Partly Facetious: The attack on Maulana Fazl

"The JUI(F) expressed anger at the Interior Minister."
Published October 29, 2014

"The JUI(F) expressed anger at the Interior Minister."
"Oh I see but more recently the Maulana has been proactive in Motivating the public against Dance."
"You city people are so decadent - now where the Maulana comes from there are only two types of entertainment - those opposed to having a good time - and dancing and singing is seen as having a good time - and those wanting diesel."
"Don't be facetious. Anyway law and order is a provincial subject isn't it. I mean the Interior Minister is not really responsible for jalsas outside the federal capital."
"Oh the party didn't take the Interior Minister to task for the attack, I mean good heavens no!"
"Well the government had provided a bullet proof car to Maulana Fazl which, we are told, saved his life so what's the problem?"
"The Interior Minister did not condemn the attack."
"That's a good one."
"What? Why?"
"Here we are, the general public, subjected to routine condemnation of terror attacks and need I add all political parties have a pro-forma statement condemning an attack which does not imply they are tackling the problem itself much to the chagrin of the public..."
"Ah yes but there is a difference between a politician under attack and the general public under attack. When a politician is under attack condemnation by all political parties and senior members of the government is expected and if it's not forthcoming it is seen as negligence at best and perhaps, just perhaps, a complicit..."
"Oh dear don't go there."
"Need I add Fazl is the first one to condemn any attack anywhere, now if Chaudhary Nisar had been attacked Fazl would have condemned it within the hour!"
"While offering free diesel..."
"Ha ha, you are right there is no love lost between the two."
