Joint opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Tuesday staged token walk-out from the proceeding of the house to protest the indifferent attitude of the Chief Minister Pervez Khattak towards opposition legislators and not sparing time for them.
The matter was first taken up by Raja Faisal Zaman of PML-N on a point of order adding that in past chief ministers were used to spare one-day of a week for meetings with the members of the provincial assembly to hear their problems and grievances. However, he said that the sitting Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has abandoned the practice due to which the legislators are facing difficulties in resolution of their problems.
At the time when the legislator was speaking on the issue, the chief minister was surrounded by several MPAs particularly by women legislators who were taking his signatures on applications.
After Raja Faisal Zaman, Nighat Orakzai of PPP also took the floor and narrated the tale of her unsuccessful bid to meet the chief minister in the CM House. She said that the chief minister is lacking interest in meeting the MPAs. She said that due to current sit-ins in Islamabad the chief minister is facing difficulties in sparing time to meet public representatives and running the government affairs even from the provincial assembly.
The indifferent attitude of the Chief Minister infuriated Nighat Orakzai and prompted her to stage walk-out from the house, saying the chief minister is not ready to hear them. She was later also joined by all other legislators from opposition benches. The Speaker, Asad Qaiser who was presiding over the proceeding asked Senior Minister Inayatullah Khan and Minister for Public Health Engineering, Shah Farman for pacifying the opposition and bringing them back to the house.
