Turkey, a unique country in the world due to its geographical presence in two continents - Asia & Europe - is also called as "Mirror of Asia and Europe". Apart from beautiful fusion of Asian and European cultures, the Arabic culture is also visible in the life style of Turkish nation. This diversity of Turkey is mainly attributed to the great leader, Mustafa Kamal Ataturk who transformed the nation into a dynamic and modern state whereas his mission is now being completed under the able guidance of His Excellency, Mr Recep Tayyep ERDOGAN.
Question is always being raised as to whether Turkey is in Asia or Europe but the Turkish nation is overwhelmed by the feelings of being a bridge between Asia and Europe and it is true. The European and American authors usually termed Turkey as divided in two cultures. According to them one half represents Asia while the other half symbolises Europe. However, the Erdogan and his companions, who are considered conservatives, are quoted as saying that there are three cultures in Turkey, which include European, Asian and Arabic. All these three cultures make Turkey a nation who would feel pride for being the custodian of three cultures. This is the only status which God Almighty gifted to Turkey, which the Turkish nation will keep on celebrating with pride for ever.
Turkey is the eighth biggest economy in the world, which is now capable to lead the world and to restore peace like it had guided the nations under the Khilafat. Turkey is a member of Nato whereas it also has membership of the Organisation for Economic Co-ordination and Development (OECD). The European Union, which was not ready to include Turkey, is now anxious to get economic assistance from Turkey and to give it the membership. Similarly, Central Asian countries including Armenia and Azerbaijan, which were earlier accusing Turk for genocides, are now promoting friendship and trade with Turkey. Russia is also ready to establish economic alliances with Turkey while China is willing to declare Turkey as its partner in Middle East. This is the reason that America is not in a position to ignore Turkey. No one including Arab, Europe, America, China and Russia can ignore Turkey. Pakistan and Turkey relations and friendship will remain strengthened because these relations are based not only at the governments' level but have deep roots in the people of both the countries. No doubt, Pak-Turkish relations get more depth & width in recent past, but in fact the relationship between Pakistanis and Turkish nations are historical and centuries old and specially even before independence of Pakistan people living in this part of subcontinent were with Turkish nation all the time. On 23rd October 2014 the Turkish Ambassador H. E. Mr Sadik Babur GIRGIN put participants on Turkish National Day Garden Party in pleasant surprise while welcoming them first in very fluent Urdu which shows Turkish love & attachment with Pakistan and its People. Ambassador Babur while addressing this well attended grand reception to mark the 91st Proclamation Day of Turkey rightly said that "our political, diplomatic & military relations are excellent. We work to bring our economic & academic ties to the same level. We have to pass on our brotherly relations to our younger generations". Apart from significant co-operation by Turkey, Turkey has offered its assistance and services to the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in energy and municipal sectors and it is expected that mega projects will be launched soon in Peshawar and other cities in the province. In recent past Turkish Ambassador in Pakistan also visited district Lakki Marwat on the invitation of Mr Salim Saifullah Khan Turkish Honorary Consul-General in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and shows his interest in social economic uplift of this area. Turkey Agency for Co-operation & Development (TIKA) established 1992 now having offices in more then 28 countries around the world and according to TIKA President Dr Serdar CAM, TIKA will continue to realise projects on five continents starting in those countries with which we have a shared culture & geography. In Pakistan TIKA will also provide assistance for rehabilitation of 12,000 affected families in the devastating floods in Pakistan. Apart from this TIKA also assisted Malik Saad Shaheed Sports Trust (MSSST) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in establishing sports academies of various disciplines. Mr Mehmet EMIN the then Country Head Pakistan visited Peshawar and inaugurated these academies in Qayyum sports Complex and also appreciated the vital role played by MSSST, this was very encouraging support from Turkish nation. Various Turkey institutions are taking interest in energy sector and it is hoped that Turkey will play major role in overcoming Pakistan's energy crisis. Pakistani nation congratulates its Turkish brethren on the 91st anniversary of their country.
