The Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS), University of Peshawar (UoP), and the Department of Home and Tribal Affairs Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Tuesday signed an agreement to assist and support each other in the peace building and community based research projects.
Under the agreement, the both institutions would also explore the feasibility of activities such as staff exchange; arrange conferences and seminars for the benefit of public at large. The agreement to remain effective for three years was formally signed by Vice Chancellor UoP Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan and Secretary Home and Tribal Affair Akhtar Ali Shah in a ceremony held at the University of Peshawar. Director IPCS Dr Jamil Ahmed and Registrar Dr Syed Fazli Hadi were also present on the occasion.
Home Department is going to establish forensic science laboratory at the University of Peshawar with the help of Department of Chemistry, said Akhtar Ali Shah on the occasion. He added the research based policy making was need of time and the KP Home Department has join hands with the University of Peshawar to carryout joint research on peace building in the region. Akhtar Ali Shah informed that they are planning to establish the forensic lab as an independent body under an autonomous institute like the University of Peshawar for overall transparency.
The concept of corporate Universities are growing with each passing day and in such situation varsities have to come up with innovation and extend community services for contributing to the overall knowledge based economy, said Vice Chancellor UoP Professor Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan.
