The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar, and Adam Jee Mills Ltd (AML) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish Technology University for a period of six years at monthly rent on the premises of the Adam Jee Mills. The MoU was signed by Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar, and Zain-ul-Abrar, General Manager AJ Mills here on Wednesday.
Imtiaz Gilani said the technical education will bring the youth to mainstream and termed this MoU a major milestone for economic development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said the premises will be used to launch the university from Spring 2015, whereas work would be started in parallel on new building so that the university would be shifted to the new building once completed.
Dr Sadiq Khattak, Project Manager of Technology University informed that services from French universities would be hired in curriculum development and technology sharing to take the university at par with international standards. Sajid Khan Jadoon, Secretary Industries appreciated the efforts of Engineer Imtiaz Hussain Gilani and urged the need to introduce state-of-the-art laboratories with modern knowledge in various fields. He assured co-operation of government to complete this project in specific time period.
Amir Abdul Rehman from Higher Education department also appreciated the efforts of Gilani and assured the full support of HED. He also highlighted the importance of higher education and identified as a backbone for the economic growth of the countries. He recommended the education budget should be raised to at least four percent for 10 years.
