That PTI chairman Imran Khan's anti-government protest still persists is nothing but a profound challenge to the incumbent Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. That is why he met leaders of all parliamentary parties to take stock of post-Dr Qadri dharna situation. Speaking to them, at the prime minister's house on Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif said that all the political issues should be discussed and resolved at the forum of Parliament and urged all political parties to play their role towards transforming Pakistan into a developed state.
The parliamentary leaders have reportedly suggested to the PM that the government should not accept the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members and speed up the process of electoral reforms. No doubt, the situation warrants no complacency for the PM. This is Imran-Qadri pressure that has awakened him to a reality: good governance is key to solution of a host of problems that threaten the survival of his five-year mandated rule. The PM, therefore, must deliver without any further loss of time.
