The concluding session of the "Indigenous on Campus Training Program" at Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro was held on Wednesday. The program was initiated under the Modern University Governance Program in collaboration with Learning Innovation Division, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan for the capacity building of the non teaching staff. A total number of 170 employees of the University from Grade 16 to Grade 22 attended the program which was bifurcated in five sessions started from 15th September 2014.
Addressing the concluding session the Vice Chancellor LUMHS Professor Noshad A. Shaikh said that Capacity Building is about developing the skills, knowledge, and the capacity of a workplace to respond to employee challenges and conflicts. In Capacity Building, each person takes a more integrated partnering role, bringing together their combined commitment and strengths in order to create a better work environment.
He added that Capacity building is a continuing process of strengthening of abilities to perform core functions, solve problems, define and achieve objectives, and understand and deal with development needs. Chief Guest Major General Professor Muhammad Aslam (R), Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Lahore, said that capacity building is the key to maximising the potential of any organisation. An organisation's capacity determines the level to which it can undertake strategy and planning, implementation, and review and evaluation. Capacity building involves enhancing the effectiveness of individuals and teams, their interactions, and the organisation as a whole to achieve their full potential. He further added that the University of Health Sciences Lahore can join hand with the Liaquat University of Medical & Health Sciences Jamshoro to take the field of the Health Sciences to the direction of excellence.
