The Supreme Court on Wednesday restored provincial assembly membership of Pakistan People's Party's leader Dr Abdul Sattar Rajpar, which was suspended by Election Tribunal Sindh. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Nasirul Mulk resumed the hearing of a writ petition filed by Dr Abdul Sattar Rajpar, who won Sindh assembly seat in PS 22 during general election 2013; however his provincial assembly membership was suspended by the ET Sindh.
During the course of proceeding, the court issued notices to all respondents in the case and adjourned proceeding for indefinite time. Dr Abdul Sattar Rajpar had won provincial assembly seat PS 22 on PPP ticket, however elections result was challenged by another contestant Arif Mustafa Jatio. The ET suspended Rajpar membership and ordered to hold polls again in the constituency.
