Compulsory subjects: Prime Minister orders HEC to amend curricula in two months
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday directed the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to make amendments to curriculum of compulsory subjects of Pakistan Studies, English and Urdu after due consultation and approval of the provincial governments.
According to a press release issued by the Prime Minister's House, the HEC would make amendments to the curriculum of all primary, middle and secondary schools as well as all colleges and universities. The HEC has been directed to task and co-ordinate with academics, universities and textbook publishers to develop, within two months, grade-appropriate material. The amendments shall include chapters aimed promoting the appreciation of the vital necessity of constitutional democracy for Pakistan's progress and identity and deepening the understanding of the merits of the constitutional democratic process and pluralism in international and national context.
