The Met Office on Saturday forecast more rainy spells for lower Sindh and south Balochistan during the next 24 hours after the overnight showers turned the weather pleasant. Threat of tropical cyclone - Nilofar - has almost diminished as it has turned into a low pressure area (LPA) over the Arabian Sea in last 24 hours, the office said.
"Tropical cyclone has converted into a low pressure area (LPA) and is likely to persist in North-eastern Arabian Sea during next 24 hours," it said. It said scattered rain-thundershowers associated with gusty winds are expected in parts of lower Sindh including Mirpurkhas, Hyderabad and Karachi divisions and in south Balochistan - Kalat and Makran divisions. "Isolated light rain-thunderstorm is expected in Malakand division and Gilgit-Baltistan. Dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country," it added.
Except parts of lower Sindh and Lasbela - Balochistan where rain-thunderstorm occurred, elsewhere in the country weather remained dry. Rainfall recorded during the last 24 hours: Lasbela 16 mm, Thatta 10.1 mm, Karachi Airport 4.6 mm, Hyderabad 3.8 mm and Mithi 1 mm. Weather in Karachi and Makran is expected to remain partly cloudy/cloudy with chances of thunderstorm/rain. In Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas, rain/thunderstorm is expected at a few places and in Kalat thunderstorm/rain at one or two places in the next 24 hours.
