In wake reduction in prices of petroleum products by the federal government, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Transport Authority has issued a revised fares table for all the categories consuming commuter transports coaches air-condition buses, ordinary and luxury buses in proportion to recent decrease in prices of petroleum commodities at local market.
In this effect, a notification issued by provincial transport authority, said that the new fare rates following the routes and asked all the Secretaries of Regional Transport Authorities to prepare fare table of the routes falling in their respective jurisdiction in the light of new diesel rates.
According to revise rates, the fare has reduced for Peshawar to Bannu Flying coaches mini buses at Rs226, for A/c busses from Rs265, for ordinary buses from Rs197, for Luxury buses from Rs216. For Peshawar to D.I.Khan, Flying coaches' mini buses fare has reduced at Rs390, for A/c busses Rs457, for ordinary buses from Rs339, for Luxury buses, at Rs373 respectively.
Similarly, for Peshawar to Haripur, the fare rate has come down for flying coach's mini buses per passenger at Rs181, for A/c busses from Rs212, for ordinary buses from Rs158 and for Luxury Buses, fixed at Rs 173 per passenger.
From Peshawar to Abbottabad, fares rate has reduced at Rs224 for flying coaches, for A/c buses from Rs262, for ordinary vehicles from Rs195, for luxury vehicles Rs 214 respectively. Likewise, Peshawar to Manshera, fares rate has been reduced at Rs 252 for flying coaches/mini buses, for A/c busses from Rs295, for ordinary from219 and for luxury vehicles, fixed at Rs241 respectively.
Similarly, for Peshawar to Charssada, Peshawar to D.I.Khan, Peshawar to Kohat, Peshawar to Hangu, Peshawar to Dir, also reduced up to 15 percent, as new separate slab-based fares rates issued for the provincial transport authority, for the respective districts.
The new fares rates has been implemented from November 02 (Sunday), according to reports said in wake of record reduction in prices of PoL commodities, by the federal government, in Lahore about 8 percent reduction has been made in fares rate, and 15 percent in Peshawar.
Meanwhile, Awami National Party, Central General Secretary, Mian Iftikhar Hussain hailed the decision of federal government for reduction petroleum prices, which would provide great relief to the masses and would bring positive impact on national economy and asked the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf led provincial coalition government that the decision should be strictly implemented on transporters to reduce fares rates. He said that after decrease in the prices government should review the prices list of transporters aimed to stop them for cheating the masses.
He said that government should also check out the prices of routine edible items as due to decrease in fare the prices also decreasing. He expressed anguish over sending inflated electricity bills, and demanded to pay back this money to the poor people.
