Ukraine's wheat harvest rose 6.3 percent in 2014 to 23.7 million tonnes thanks to a larger planting area and higher yield, agriculture ministry data showed on Wednesday. The data show that milling wheat amounted to 12.8 million tonnes, or 54 percent of the harvest versus 75 percent in 2013. The ministry gave no tonnage of milling wheat harvested last year.
Wheat exports, according to the ministry's forecast, in the 2014/15 season which runs from July to June could rise to 11.76 million tonnes from 9.2 million a season earlier. The ministry said export volumes this season could include 6.23 million tonnes of milling wheat.
