With a view to encourage new entrepreneurs to invest in dairy sector, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) in collaboration with ALTECH Pakistan and ASALPAR farm has organised one-day training programme with a special focus on "Calf Rearing."
Smeda Chief Executive Officer Alamgir Chaudhry while commenting on the significance of dairy sector said that realising the growth potential of dairy and livestock sector in the country, Smeda is endeavouring to build awareness and capacity of the SMEs involved in dairy business.
"We are striving to improve productivity and profitability of this sector by disseminating the latest production and marketing techniques being implemented in the modern world," he added. Speaking on the occasion, the renowned dairy experts; Dr Shahzad Jadoon and Dr Waqas introduced the international best practices to have potential profitability of the sector and urged the local farmers to implement these practices at the dairy farms in the full swing.
Dr Shahzad Jadoon said that there is a huge potential of profitability and growth in the sector if proper feed and disease management practices are implemented by the farmers. He gave a detailed presentation on this occasion on the best practices for calf rearing which were required to be implemented by farmers to compete with the international players and increase profitability. Muhammad Tayyab Advocate on behalf of the local farming community expressed deep gratitude to Smeda and ALTECH on arranging such a useful training programme for the local dairy farmers and emphasised upon the participants to avail the benefits also from other initiatives of Smeda.
