The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to National Assembly (NA) Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on a petition regarding the failure to accept the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed and Justice Junaid Ghaffar heard the petition filed in the SHC stating that PTI MNAs had tendered their resignations which were not being accepted. The SHC directed the NA Speaker and the ECP to submit their replies on December 3. The petition maintained that failure to accept resignations was a violation of Article 64 of the Constitution by the National Assembly Speaker. The petition called for the acceptance of PTI MNAs' resignations and withdrawal of all their pay and perk.
