Land slide victims: first cargo flight of Pakistan relief goods arrives in Sri Lanka
The first cargo flight of relief goods from Pakistan for the land slide victims of Haldummula in Sri Lanka arrived on Wednesday at Katunayake Airport. The relief goods containing generators, shelters, tents, medicines, etc were handed over by the High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka Major General Qasim Qureshi (Retd) to the Sri Lankan Deputy Chief of Staff Major General EMM Ambanpola, USP.
The estimated value of the relief assistance by the Government of Pakistan for the land sliding victims is over LKR 100 million. While speaking on the occasion, Pakistan's High Commissioner reiterated Pakistan's continued commitment to assist Sri Lanka during its relief and rehabilitation efforts. The second special flight carrying relief goods is expected to arrive on Thursday (today).
