Tribal elders from conflict-hit of Tehsil Bara, Khyber Agency, demanded the federal and provincial government to announce a comprehensive compensation package and immediate open registration for fresh dislocated families from the agency. Addressing a news conference at press club on Wednesday, Haji Daud Khan Afridi, an elder and President of Khyber Welfare Committee (KWC) of the tribal agency, expressed voice concern over step-motherly attitude with the internally displaced people from the Tehsil Bara of Khyber Agency.
He informed a large number of families, have been migrated in wake of the ongoing military assault 'Khyber One Operation'. He said due to lack of facilities and arrangements, IDPs are being faced with enormous difficulties. Accompanied by members of the committee including Malik Haji Hukam Khan Afridi, Malik Sultan Muhammad Afridi, Mula Khel Afridi and others, Afridi said that a number of IDPs were yet not register, demanding the government and relevant authorities to immediate open registration process to mitigate the suffering for internally uprooted tribesmen of Bara. He further urged the authorities to establish a proper makeshift camp for IDPs and provide them health, education facilities, and other daily food items.
The tribal elders also complained over mistreatment of IDPs with hand of police in the settled areas. They urged the high officials of police, to take notice of cruelty. Tribesmen are patriot citizen of the country, and they could be treated equally", Afridi said.
KWC president said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister had already announced Rs 5000/- for each war affected family in Jalozai refugees camp, and urged the Governor and chief minister KP to announce cash package for IDPs of the concerned agency along with establishment of medical camps and essential things related to food and winter. He also demanded of the Governor to give status to IDPs of Khyber agency with all facilities as given to IDPs of Waziristan agency because they are also Pakistanis and peaceful civilians of the country.
