Taiwan stocks traded flat on Thursday morning, slightly lagging other regional bourses as investors remained cautious ahead of major companies' financial results. As of 0155 GMT, the main TAIEX index was up 1 point at 8963.58, after closing down 0.30 percent on Wednesday. The electronics subindex was down 0.1 percent, though smartphone camera lens manufacturer Largan Precision Co Ltd gained 2.16 percent after reporting October sales rose 86.55 percent.
A number of technology firms, including PC maker Acer Inc, smartphone chip vendor MediaTek Inc and Apple Inc casing supplier Catcher Technology Co Ltd , are set to report third-quarter financial results after market close on Thursday. According to Kevin Lin, founder of Taipei-based financial consultancy Caizi School, investors are adopting a wait-and-see approach to the market ahead of key earnings. The Taiwan dollar was up T$0.017 to stand at T$30.585 to the US dollar.
