The Karachi Port handled 138,933 tonnes of cargo comprising 89,628 tonnes of import cargo and 49,305 tonnes of export cargo including 5,566 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 89,628 tonnes comprised of 33,473 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,909 tonnes of general cargo; 17,478 tonnes of bulk cargo: 6,443 tonnes of wheat; 9,535 tonnes of DAP; 1,500 tonnes of rock phosphate and 16,768 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,305 tonnes comprised of 27,494 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,526 tonnes of cement and 14,285 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,566 containers comprising 2,466 containers import and 3,100 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The break-up of imported containers shows 792 of 20's and 796 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 41 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 792 of 20's and 366 of 40's loaded containers while 808 of 20's and 384 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were four ships namely AS Carelia, MT Karachi, Sat Bellatrix and Itami carrying containers, oil tanker and steel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. AS Carelia, Kota Karim, OOCL Shanghai, Renuar, Pontica and Rio Daytona carrying containers, seed and chemical respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Hyundai Confidence and Silvia Ambition carrying containers and steel respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Tai Hu carrying oil tanker is expected to sail on Friday. There are seven vessels viz. RHL Aqua, Cosco Osaka, Al-Abdali, Grate Star, Dong A Peneus, Aurora Island and Rochester Castle carrying containers, oil tankers, DAP and talcum powder respectively due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 43,796 tonnes comprising 24,317 tonnes of import cargo and 19,479 export cargo inclusive 693 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 24,317 tonnes includes 14,350 tonnes of edible oil; 2,638 tonnes of seeds and 7,329 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 19,479 tonnes includes 13,200 tonnes of cement and 6,279 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Rablais, CV Maersk Pittsburgh and MT Sheng Shi-Z with containers and LNG sailed out sea on Thursday morning.
A total number of six vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Rablais, CV Maersk Pittsburgh, MV Danos-Z, MV Dynamic Ocean, MV Glory Trader and MT Able Sailor currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, seeds and edible oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely New Delhi Express, Hansa America, Sea Luck-II, Flag Mersindi, Al-Salam-II, Sunny Horizon, Bunga Aster, Sofia Kusan and MT Quetta with containers, seeds, wheat, diesel oil, steel product, edible oil and furnace oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels viz. CV Rio Blanco carrying containers and cement took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There are four ships namely CV New Delhi Express, CV Hansa America, MT Sofia Kusan and MT Quetta with containers edible oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
