Business Recorder Sub-Editor Khurshid Zuberi, 74, died in a private hospital, here on Saturday. He leaves behind two sons-Akbar and Akhtar. He was hospitalised following deterioration in his health a week ago. Born in Meerut, India, in undivided Sub-continent, he spent several decades in the field of journalism.
Armed by an MA in English language and a law degree, Zuberi was a highly enthusiastic, well-travelled and creative journalist having deep association with international news agencies and the national ones as well. His journalistic career included different stints at various publications. Zuberi was a good student of Sovietology; he had fair understanding and appreciation of Russian language and literature.
He was also a keen observer of the happenings in the Communist world during the Cold War. For example, he was always found extremely good at the interpretation of tensions between China's Chairman Mao Tse Tung and the Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev. He will be remembered by his colleagues and friends for his adherence to high standards of work ethics and honesty. He will also be remembered for his strict conformity to conventionally accepted standards of behaviour or morals.
