The wheat bags sent as relief items for the drought-affected people of Tharparkar district turned out to be bags filled with sands and mud on Saturday. According to the details, the 'relief items' sent by the Sindh government turned more like a prank on the drought-hit people of Sindh's Tharparkar district as it was revealed that as many as 292 bags carry mud instead of wheat.
The reported discovery is astonishing because the death toll of children who died of malnutrition and hunger in past 40 days has surged to 42 and as many as 47 children are hospitalised in the Mithi Civil Hospital. The Relief Judge evaluated the bogus bags and ordered strict investigation against those responsible. Meanwhile, show-cause notices served the PPP leadership to Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Sindh Minister for Prisons Manzoor Wassan have been withdrawn.
