The residents of the federal capital are feeling insecure due to sharp rise in armed robberies as well as vehicles lifting or snatching from various parts of the city. Growing cases of robberies and vehicles theft have been source of perpetual agony for the residents due to absence of an effective policing and patrolling in the federal capital. "The criminals are roaming scot-free due to ineffective policing system, an official source said on the condition of anonymity.
According to data gathered by Business Recorder the residents of the federal capital lost million of rupees in cash, other valuables and vehicles because of armed robberies, thefts and snatching. A total of 19 cases including 12 cases of car thefts and seven cases of robberies and dacoities have been reported at various police stations of the city during last week. Police also registered several cases of fraud and dishonoured cheques whereas some incidents were not reported during the period.
The worst hit area during the last week was the limits of Ramna Police Station as robbers struck at four different places and auto thieves lifted one vehicle from the same area. Ali Ashgar a resident of sector I-10/1 lodged a complaint with Ramana police station that unknown robbers have stolen gold ornaments, cash and two mobile phones from his residence worth Rs 3,00000. In another incident, unknown bandits have stolen gold ornaments, cash and watches from the house of Syed Moeen Haider worth Rs 254000.
Unknown people have stolen four mobiles phones, Rs 70,000 in cash from the house of Muhammad Umer Farooq located in sector G-10 Markaz. Waheed Anwer lodged a complaint with Ramna Police Station that unknown people have stolen gold ornament and cash worth Rs 180000. Auto thieves have stolen a bike (RIK-8671) of Mushtaq Hussain from sector G-11/4.
During last week Sabzi Mandi police registered two cases of auto theft and one case of robbery. Three armed persons intercepted Shaikh Attiqu Rehman in sector I-10/1 and snatched cash and two mobiles phone worth Rs 150000 at gunpoint in the limits of Sabzi Mandi police station.
Motor vehicle thieves have stolen a Corolla car (AFK-515) of Muhammad Ameen from Shams colony and lifted another Khyber car (LOV-8864) of Muhammad Akram from the limits of Sabzi Mandi Police Station during the last week. Margalla police station also registered two cases of auto theft and one case of robbery during the same period. During last week Kohsar police registered two case one case of robbery and auto theft while Bara Kahu police registered two cases of robbery during last week. Sihala and Tarnol police stations registered one case each of robbery while Koral and Gorla police stations registered one case each of auto theft during last week.
