Minister for IT for early completion of ongoing projects
ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training with additional portfolio of Ministry of Information Technology, Prof Yusuf Shaikh emphasised on the early completion of ongoing ICTs development projects, so that the people of un-served areas could get equal benefits in the country.
During his visit of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication here Monday, the minister was briefed regarding the status of DigiSkills program, Digital literacy and other initiatives of Digital Pakistan by the senior officials of the Ministry.
The minister was given a detailed briefing on the Structure of the Ministry and its important functions regarding growth and development of the Telecoms and IT markets in the country.
Development of the sector was elaborated through statistical benchmarks over the recent years and the need to keep policy focus was highlighted.
Specifically, in terms of carrying forward the initiatives an overview was provided of the recently approved Digital Pakistan Policy.
The one Million DigiSkills program and the need for implementing and concluding the various elements of the Policy and the DigiSkills program, was discussed.
Status of IT park, being established at Islamabad with Korean assistance and the need to effectively canvass for the upcoming Council elections of the International Telecommunications Union also came under discussion.
The minister lauded the efforts of the Ministry for the development of ICTs in the country.
He appreciated the Ministry's initiatives of broadband proliferation to the under-privileged and remote areas of Pakistan.
He urged the officials to continue their professional work with same zeal and zest for the digital development of the country.
Secretary Information Technology and Telecom Aamir Ashraf Khawaja, Additional secretary IT Dr. Jamal Nasir, Member Telecom Mudassar Hussain, Member HR Tahir Mushtaq, Member Legal Ameena Sohail, Member International Coordination Yasir Qadir and other senior officials of the Ministry were also present in the briefing.
