Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Health, Shahram Khan Tarakai has said that distribution of Laptops among the students of Khyber Medical University (KMU) will enable them to move forward towards digital academic system.
He expressed these views while talking to distribution ceremony of Prime Minister Laptop Scheme as chief guest among the post graduate students of KMU at IPM&R. Secretary Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr Aftab Akbar Durrani, Registrar Dr Fazal Mehmood, Director Academics Professor Dr Shad Mohammad, Controller of Examination Dr Syed Muttahir Ali Shah, Treasurer Gul Azad Khan, Heads of various institutes, faculty and a large number of students were also present at the occasion.
Shahram Khan Tarakai said KMU is a unique university as it is the sole public sector medical university in the province which is trying its best for achieving excellence in academics and research in the medical field. Showing strong confidence and satisfaction on the performance of KMU, Minister Health hoped that KMU will go for research in the so far neglected areas of clinical as well as allied health sciences to coup with the future challenges.
The Minister asked the KMU Authorities to evaluate the progress and effectiveness of previous Laptops distributions which will enable KMU for better use of present distribution of Laptops among the students. While talking to the ceremony secretary health said it is encouraging that our medical students are entering in the digital learning process and equipping them with Laptops will not only encourage them but it will also boost their capabilities of research and academics.
Shahram Tarakai remarked that we have a lot of best clinicians but we are far behind in doing quality research in various medical fields. He emphasised that inculcating a good research culture in our young graduates will definitely benefit the society. He urged upon the medical professionals that their behaviour should be patient friendly and performing duty with honesty and sincerely will bring good name and fame for the whole medical community.
Earlier VC KMU Professor Dr Mohammad Hafeezullah highlighted the role, function, achievements and gaps of the university and hoped that provincial government will continue its generous support for ongoing as well as future plans of the university. Later on chief guest along with secretary health and key officers of KMU distributed Laptops among the post graduates students of various disciplines.
