The Karachi Port handled 265,841 tonnes of cargo comprising 186,791 tonnes of import cargo and 79,050 tonnes of export cargo including 4,704 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 186,791 tonnes comprised of 62,386 tonnes of containerised cargo; 81,155 tonnes of bulk cargo: 33,535 tonnes of coal; 12,583 tonnes of wheat; 30,673 tonnes of DAP; 4,364 tonnes of rock phosphate and 43,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 79,050 tonnes comprised of 62,486 tonnes of containerised cargo; 315 tonnes of general cargo; 9,060 tonnes of cement and 7,189 tonnes of talcum powder. As many as 4,704 containers comprising 2,578 containers import and 2,126 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,059 of 20's and 457 of 40's loaded while 605 of 20's and nil of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,105 of 20's and 185 of 40's loaded containers while 343 of 20's and 154 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely Cosco Osaka, Al-Abdali, APL Chicago, Ital Melodia, Tai Hu, Jbu Opal, Great Star and Pontica carrying containers, oil tankers and rock phosphate respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were seven vessels viz. MOL Direction, Shahr-e-Kord, Hanjin White, Ital Melodia,, Great Star, MT Lahore and Klima carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.
There were five ships namely MOL Direction, Shahr-e-Kord, Hanjin White, Ikan Parang and Thorco Divia carrying containers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely MT Lahore and Alam Sayang carrying oil tanker and chemical respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday. There are eight vessels viz. PAC Aries, OEL Trust, CSC Cyanite, BW Kronborg, Wawasan Ruby, Skua, Halil Sahin, and Zhe Hai-169 carrying containers, mogas, chemical, coal, soyabean meal and steel respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 67,937 tonnes includes 31,277 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,005 tonnes of palm oil; 6,500 tonnes of chemical and 19,152 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,860 tonnes includes 1,063 tonnes of cement and 27,797 tonnes of containerised cargo. There were five ships namely CV Posen, CV MSC Albany, MV Danos-Z, Pacific Stream and MT Al-Salam-II with containers, cement, chemical and diesel oil sailed out sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely CV Vienna carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Vienna, CV Posen, CV MSC Albany, MV Danos-Z, MV Ping An, MV Sea Luck-II, Flag Mersindi, MT Jixiang, MT Atlantic Glory, MT Pacific Stream and MT Al-Salam-II currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds, wheat, chemical, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as six ships namely Great Star, Sunny Horizon, Ocean Lion, BBC Ontario, Mona and Ashahda with palm oil, steel product, general cargo, rapeseed and furnace oil are at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were four vessels viz. CV Safmarine Ngami, MV BBC Ontario, MV Mona and MT Ashahda carrying containers, steel product, general cargo and furnace oil expected to took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Asir and CV CMA CGM Debussy with containers respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, While two more containers ships namely CV CMA CGM Cornelle and CV Maersk Hartford are due to arrive on Wednesday.
