Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousuf on Wednesday said that there would be no amendment in the Blasphemy law however the government is trying to stop the misuse of this law. The minister said while addressing a ceremony organized by Anjuman-e-Shehriaan of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, on successful completion of the Hajj operation. The government will make efforts to facilitate the people for performing Umrah like Hajj.
He said that Ulema should contribute for promoting religious harmony among the masses to eliminate sectarian violence and efforts are being made to stop religious extremism in the country. The minister said that providing facilities to the pilgrims was priority of the government and all efforts were made to facilitate them during Hajj. He added that Umrah is not the domain of the religious ministry but the government would try to facilitate the people going for Umrah.
On the occasion different suggestions were given by the participants. The minister agreed to the suggestion of Maulana Zahoor Ahmed, said that private discussion forum should be formed to perform Hajj more easily. He appreciated the efforts of all religious groups to condemn the Kot Radha Kishan incident. Hafiz Sajjad Qamar said that current Hajj operation fulfilled all desired requirements of the pilgrims, as no transport or residence issues were faced during Hajj. He said that all facilities provided by the government to the Pilgrims were according to commitment and the pilgrims also acknowledged the efforts. Jassim M. Al-Khaldi, Charge d' Affairs, Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, President Islamic International University Islamabad, Malik Muhammad Azam, Malik Muhammad Ibrar MNA Rawalpindi and Abdul Sattar MPA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were present on the occasion.
