Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HCCI) has expressed a deep concern on the worst ever law and order situation in Hyderabad and said that the chamber cannot leave alone innocent citizens at the mercy of criminals and would continue to play its due role in this regard. The chamber warned that if the situation was not improved, they would be compelled to take an extreme action.
Addressing a news conference at the HCCI hall, here on Wednesday, Mahmood Rajput, Chairman Law and Order Sub-committee of the HCCI, said the whole society had become victim of destruction as crimes including robberies, kidnappings for ransom, extortions and street crimes were on the rise.
On resistance, criminal elements shot dead a number of people, destroying the mental peace of the citizens and increasing insecurity among them, he added. Businessmen were the worst affected segment of the situation as it had become impossible for them to make any cash transaction.
On the other hand, the physical infrastructure of the city was in shabby condition and sewerage system had ruined and every street of the city had turned into stinking water pool, he lamented. He further said that Hyderabad was paying more than Rs 35 billions direct tax and billions of rupees of other taxes were paid but the situation was not improving.
He said that the HCCI held talks with Sindh chief minister, chief secretary, IG and SSP but decisions taken in these meetings had never been implemented. If the situation was not improved, they would be compelled to stage Dharna (sit in) against the indifferent attitude of the rulers.
