Factories, schools, colleges in district central: disaster management training to be imparted to all stakeholders
Training about prevention and management of disasters will be imparted in all factories, schools and colleges located in district central, whereas departmental co-ordination and co-operation will also be strengthened. This was decided during meeting of District Disaster Management Committee held in the office of Deputy Commissioner Central Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman. Meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Farhan Ghani and participated by MQM MNA Rehan Hashmi and MPA Kamal Ahmed.
Meeting was also attended by officers of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), PIA Boy Scouts Association, North Karachi Association of Trade and Industry, Health Department and other concerned departments.
Briefing about the objectives of meeting, ADC Farhan Ghani told that District Disaster Management Committee is being extended and strengthened in district central and all departments are requested to nominate their focal persons. "These focal persons will be taken on board and referred for training at national or international forums," he informed.
District administration is trying its best to create awareness and impart trainings to people about prevention and rescue during disasters to reduce loss of lives. It can be a big calamity if Karachi received earthquake, Farhan Ghani highlighted. Talking on the occasion, MNA Rehan Hashmi and MPA Kamal Ahmed shared that they were imparting trainings to children and youth of schools and colleges located in their constituencies which is now yielding positive results. North Karachi Trade Industry should come forward and offer their officers and workers voluntarily for such trainings, for which district administration will provide all-out support," they added.-PR
