Protection of minorities' rights: LHC seeks replies from Punjab government, IGP

The Lahore High Court here on Thursday issued notices to the Punjab government and Inspector General of Police on a petition seeking protection of minorities' rights and sought replies by November 18. The petitioner, a Chiristian journalist Javed Gull submitted that there were a number of events in which minorities were victimised just for nothing. He said the recent the most tragic event was burning of a couple in Kasur area.
He said that the Christians are contributing equally for the prosperity of the country and had remarkable services in education and health without any discrimination. He prayed the court to direct concerned authorities for effective implementation of minorities' rights. He further requested the court to direct authorities to take measures for protection of minorities.
