The Area Study Center of Sindh University signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Perlis University, Malaysia to promote research and academic co-operation between the two institutions of higher learning.
Director Area Study Centre (ASC) Prof Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto and Perlis University Malaysia Vice-Chancellor Brigadier Dato Qamaruddin (Retired) signed the MoU. The ceremony in this regard was held in the office of VC Perlis University, according to a press release issued here on Sunday.
Under the agreement, the two universities would work together towards pursuing goals of internationalisation of education. They would also promote educational and academic exchanges, besides organising joint conferences, workshops and seminars.
The MoU includes students' exchange program and conducting research together. On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor Dato Qamaruddin and Director ASC Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto agreed to organise a joint international conference in Kuala Lumpur in November 2015.
On the occasion, Dr Hamadullah Kakepoto extended his thanks and good wishes to the Vice-Chancellor of Perlis University Malaysia for posing confidence in the Sindh Varsity in working together towards achieving excellence in higher education and research.
Dr Kakepoto gave a detailed presentation to the hi-ups of Perlis University Malaysia about the activities and functions of the centre.
He said that the Sindh University had always provided a platform to enable efficient use of resources through innovative use of technology. "The agreement will help promote quality higher education in the country," he said. Dr Hamadullah further said that the MoU would be mutually beneficial and promote higher quality education in the country. "The SU will benefit from the Perlis Varsity's education technology through the joint programmes offered by both the universities," he said.
