The Additional Session Judge Islamabad on Monday rejected an application seeking registration of a second First Investigation Report (FIR) of the Lal Mashid killings against former president General Pervaiz Musharraf (Retd), former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and his Cabinet colleagues.
The Additional Session Judge, Skindar Khan, resumed the hearing of a petition filed by Shohada Foundation of Pakistan Trust (SFPT). During the course of proceedings, the court in its order stated that the applicant have not shown any concern about the first FIR of the same incident hence the application stands dismissed. The court said the applicant may become a party to the first FIR of case and record his statement. The court further stated in its verdict that the petitioner can re-nominate Musharraf among other accused in his statement and directed Station House Officer (SHO) Aabpara Police Station to record the petitioner's statement.
Earlier, the SFPT filed an application in the court, urging the court to direct the police to register a second FIR of the Lal Mashid incident against Musharraf, Shaukat Aziz, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Tariq Azeem, Ejazul Haq, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Aftab Sherpao, Khurshid Kasuri, Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi, Faisal Saleh Hayat, Javaid Iqbal Cheema, Syed Kamal Shah, Khalid Pervaiz, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed and Kamran Lashari.
The petitioner pleaded that the first FIR was registered on the complaint of Haroonul Rashid and now the application for a second FIR was filed by one of the members of the Trust Jan Muhammad Qureshi whose son Shahzad Qureshi had also been killed on July 5, 2007.
