The Karachi Port handled 79,168 tonnes of cargo comprising 48,782 tonnes of import cargo and 30,386 tonnes of export cargo including 2,899 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 48,782 tonnes comprised of 12,817 tonnes of containerised cargo; 13,124 tonnes of general cargo; 10,103 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,495 tonnes of wheat; 1,086 tonnes of soyabean meal; 5,522 tonnes of sunflower seeds and 12,738 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,386 tonnes comprised of 29,516 tonnes of containerised cargo; 70 tonnes of general cargo and 800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 2,899 containers comprising 981 containers import and 1,918 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 333 of 20's and 207 of 40's loaded while 90 of 20's and 72 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 895 of 20's and 330 of 40's loaded containers while 123 of 20's and 120 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MOL Dignity, HS Everest, MT Quetta, Ocean Star-1, Busan Star and Hanne Danica carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were eight vessels viz. Sima Prestige, ACX Crystal, Folk Beauty, Formosa Falcon, Songa Eagle, Grand Cosmos, Ming Hai and Hanne Danica carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle, soyabean meal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Sima Prestige, ACX Crystal and Grand Cosmos carrying containers and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while two ships namely Folk Beauty and Pacific Vision carrying oil tanker and steel respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday. There was one vessel viz. Kota Kamil carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday, while five vessels viz. PAC Aries, Ever Radient, AS Carelia, Sea Merchant and Bedford Castle carrying containers, cement and steel respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 54,929 tonnes includes 3,400 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,510 tonnes of palm oil; 6,166 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 7,696 tonnes of wheat; 2,802 tonnes of chemical and 9,785 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 24,419 tonnes includes 8,228 tonnes of cement and 16,191 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Atlanta, MV Al-Mahboobah and MT Golden Ambrosia with containers, chemical and edible oil sailed out sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Atlanta, CV Safmarine Ngami, MV Ikan Prang, MT Golden Ambrosia, MV Sea Luck-II, MV Flag Mersindi, MV Almah Boobam, MT Lassy Victory and MT SC Dong Hai currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, sunflower seeds, wheat, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as seven ships namely Maersk Kolkata, Fowairet, Ocean Lion, Verginia, Classy Victoria, Amber Champion and Feng Hai-33 with containers, rapeseed, wheat, gas oil, cement and edible oil at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There were three vessels with containers and gas oil took berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday. There are two ships namely CV Maersk Kolkata and CV Fowairet with containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
