Country Head of British Department for International Development (DFID) Richard Montgomery met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif here on Wednesday. In the meeting, DFID co-operation in ongoing skill development, education and health programmes were discussed on the occasion, disclosed an official.
On the occasion, the CM said comprehensive reforms were being introduced in education and health sectors. He also appreciated the co-operation of DFID in education and health sectors. He said skill development programme for imparting vocational education to the youth was also continuing successfully with the co-operation of DFID. "Work force is being prepared under skill development programme to meet the market needs. Public health facilities are also being improved under Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap," he added.
Richard Montgomery said the Punjab government led by CM Shahbaz Sharif had shown commendable performance in education and health sectors. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Petroleum Shahid Khaqan Abbasi met Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif and presented him a cheque for Rs 50 million for Chief Minister's Relief Fund for Flood Affectees on behalf of Pak-Arab Refinery.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM appreciated the spirit of help to the distressed people, and said Punjab government had extended all out help to the flood affectees and successfully completed the biggest relief and rescue operation of the history. He said solid measures had also been taken for the rehabilitation of calamity-hit people. Shahbaz Sharif said a historic package of Rs 16 billion had been given for flood affectees and the process of distribution of financial assistance among affectees was continuing in a transparent manner. No efforts would be spared for the rehabilitation of flood-hit people, he added.
