The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has organised 10 pre-conference workshops on Thursday in connection with the international conference on "Simulation, Simulated and Standardised Patients in Health Professionals' Education" to be formally inaugurated on Friday (today).
This is fifth international moot organised by UHS this year. It is being organised in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan, Pakistan Medical Research Council and Pakistan Science Foundation.
The conference will be inaugurated by British Council Lahore's Director Kevin McLavin and noted medical educationists Professor Dr Ijaz Ahsan and Professor Dr BA Yazdani. The workshops arranged on Thursday included: "Involving real patients in health professions' teaching and research", held at Fatima Jinnah Medical College (FJMC) Lahore and facilitated by Dr Vikram Jha from University of Liverpool, UK. "Establishing simulation centre in a medical college: experience from Rawalpindi Medical College," held at UHS and facilitated by Dr Gohar Wajid from University of Dammam, Saudi Arabia and Dr Idrees Anwar.
"The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: Assessment of attitudes and ethics in health professionals," held at King Edward Medical University (KEMU) and facilitated by Dr Mowaddat Hussain Rana. The workshop on "Gamification and simulation with Power Point" was held at Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) and facilitated by Dr Masood Jawaid. "Embracing cultural aspects of Professionalism' was the theme of workshop held at Fatima Memorial Hospital College of Medicine Lahore which was facilitated by Dr Usman Mahboob.
Dr Abdul Majeed Chaudhry facilitated the workshop on "Simulations in Medical Education" at Lahore Medical and Dental College (LMDC). Dr Kay Mohanna from Keela University School of Medicine, UK, facilitated the workshop on "Helping healthcare professionals give patients explanations they can understand" at Services Institute of Medical Science (SIMS) Lahore.
