Low income group people 'Punjab government decides to construct 8,000 apartments'
The Punjab government has decided to construct 8,000 apartments for low income group people with the help of private sector investment under the public-private partnership mode, Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shujah-ur-Rehman said, here on Thursday.
He was chairing the 17th meeting of Public-Private Partnership Steering Committee held at P&D Complex Lahore. Chairman Planning and Development Punjab Muhammad Irfan Elahi, Agha Waqar Javed Member Public-Private Partnership Cell P&D, Member PPP Steering Committee Engr Qamar-ul-Islam Raja (MPA), Chaudhary Iftikhar Hussain, MPA, Director General LDA Ahad Khan Cheema and administrative secretaries of the Punjab government departments concerned were also attended the meeting.
He said the Punjab government is all set to open a new era of infrastructure development in the province with the help of private sector investment. The finance minister approved two low cost projects titled Construction of Affordable Housing Apartments at Ashiana-E-Iqbal Burki Road Lahore and construction of Affordable Housing units at Ashina-e-Quaid Attari Saroba, Lahore.
Shujah also gave approval for construction of a flyover at Railway crossing, Defence Road, Kacha Kahna Lahore on the basis of Public-Private Partnership. The Finance Minister appreciated the efforts of the Public-Private Partnership cell, P&D Department, LDA and Risk Management Unit Finance Department to approve these development projects for facilitation to the general public in a short period.
