The Lahore High Court here on Thursday dismissed a petition filed by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq against an election tribunal holding proceedings on alleged rigging in NA-122. The court relying upon the order of a full bench that courts cannot interfere into the tribunal proceedings held that the petition was not maintainable.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq stated that PTI Chief Imran Khan did not annex all requirements and solid arguments with his petition. He submitted that the petitions filed by the PTI were invalid and based on malafide intentions. The petitioner stated that eligibility of any candidate cannot be challenged on the basis of incomplete documents. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was elected from NA-122 by defeating Imran Khan. The PTI chief challenged Ayaz's victory before the election tribunal and asked for recounting of the votes.
