The Punjab government has established 'Sugarcane purchase monitoring and examining committees' and special complaint cells to facilitate the sugarcane growers during the crushing season 2014-15. Commissioner Punjab Office said here on Thursday that complaint cells had been established in each district headquarter, Tehsil headquarter and at the gates of the sugar mills where growers could lodge their complaint in office timings.
Moreover, growers can also contact the district co-ordination officer (DCOs) of their concerned district or respective assistant commissioner for any legal action in case of a complaint. It was also claimed that district sugarcane purchase monitoring and examining committees are working continuously under the supervision of DCO and assistant commissioners of the areas concerned to remove complaints regarding weighing of sugarcane, deduction or any other problem.
The Commissioner Office has claimed that Crushing Season 2014-15 had already been started and process of purchase of sugarcane at the rate of Rs 180 per 40 kilograms was underway. It advised the growers that who had supplied sugarcane to any sugar mill in Punjab during the season 2013-14 and is in possession of a formal Cane Purchase Receipt (CPR) should submit an application in writing along with the photocopy of CPR so as his payment could be ensured.
