Chairperson Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) A Irfan Qaiser Shaikh has said on Thursday that Tevta has successfully launched one month free solar technology training course at Government Staff Training College Gulberg. "4,000 male and female would be trained under TVET Reform Support Programme by GIZ. So far, 122 trainees from across the Punjab have been successfully completed this training programme in five batches, he mentioned.
He further said the duration of the whole project is 30 months. Participants from all over Punjab are also given stipend of Rs 3000 each and free tool kit during the training along with accommodation facility. He stated this while addressing a meeting to review the progress of solar technology training course programme. Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi and other officers were also present in the meeting.
Irfan Qaiser Shaikh said that under the said project, 68 Tevta instructors will also be trained as master trainers from 34 institutions, out of which 48 instructors have now been trained. It has been designed for small entrepreneurs to promote the solar technology in Pakistan.
By observing the potential and success of the project, a component of "Solar Water Heating System" has also been added into the project under which 10 further Tevta institutions will be provided the complete set up for running the course. He highlighted that the said project would help to boost the image of Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) in the whole province of Punjab. Tevta has initiated the project in accordance with the policy of Punjab government to meet the ever increasing energy needs, he concluded.
