Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan on Thursday while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a workshop for preparation of artificial limbs at Darul Rehmat in district Charsadda, has said the government alone cannot meet the demand of health services, therefore the NGOs should come forward and support the government in this sector.
He underlined the dedicated role of NGOs in health sector to mitigate miseries and sufferings of poor and the destitute. "There is need to sensitise the people to the emerging challenge in shape of polio eradication which not only affects a single person but also becomes a big responsibility for the entire society," he added. Earlier, the Governor formally inaugurated the modern workshop for preparation of artificial limbs to help needy patients.
"The entire process of preparing artificial limbs is completed under the single roof for which state-of-the-art equipment has been made available," Chief Executive Comprehensive Health and Education Forum (CHEF) International Dr Suhail Ayaz told the Governor. He said the hospital Darul Rehmat, comprising 50 beds each for male and female patients, offers specialised facilities for treatment of ENT, orthopedics, mental health and other specialised subjects.
He expressed gratitude to Saima Durani, widow of late Shakirullah Durrani for her generous share for provision of spacious premises to house the health care services being offered by CHEF International. Dr Suhail Ayaz said CHEF had spent Rs 160 million on relief and rehabilitation of affected people apart from provision of free of cost medicines to the tune of Rs 17 million; an expenditure of Rs 40 million on making existing basic health units functional and spending an amount of Rs 37 million on improvement of existing schools in different areas of Charsadda district alone.
