Haier Pakistan donated Rs 2 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) on Thursday to support its nutrition efforts for the 2014 flood affected families in Punjab. The funds provided by Haier will be utilised to procure seven metric tons of a nutritious product "Achamum" to treat approximately 1,100 young malnourished children.
The cheque was handed over by Li Dapeng, Haier Head of Sales and Marketing, to Lola Castro, WFP Pakistan Representative. The event was also attended by Waheeb Ismail, Haier Head of Marketing, and M Hamayoun Bashir, Haier Marketing Manager and officials from WFP.
"The private sector has an increasingly greater role to play in our efforts to scale up nutrition interventions in Pakistan, especially in disaster affected areas, as people struggle to regain their lives and livelihoods. We strive to ensure that families receive the required nutrition to assist them in these trying times," said Lola Castro. Li Dapeng added that Haier is "honoured and privileged for being able to support the people of Pakistan in whatever small way we can.-PR
