The law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) claimed to have killed three criminals in different raids in the metropolis here on Thursday. According to police sources, a wanted terrorist, associated with a banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Qari Abdul Rehman, involved in various killing incidents, was gun downed in a joint raid by the police and Rangers in his house in Gulshan-e-Boner in the jurisdiction of Quaidabad police station.
Police said that Qari Abdul Rehman was presently working as an activist of TTP in Gulshan-e-Boner area. He was also involved in the killings of the police and Rangers in the city. Government had fixed the amount of Rs 1.5 million for his arrest. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. Police further said that weapons and hand grenades were also recovered during the course of action from his possession.
In another incident, Rangers also launched a targeted operation in Lyari's area Kalakot and killed a gang war criminal in an alleged shoot-out. The deceased was identified as Irfan alias Kalu. According to Rangers spokesman, the slain criminal was involved in target killing, extortion and abduction for ransom. He was wanted for more than 40 counts of violent crimes like manslaughter, assault and kidnapping, armed robberies, extortion, possession of illegal arms etc. The suspect was allegedly affiliated with Baba Ladla Group, a ruthless gang of criminals based in the slums of Lyari. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
Similarly, in another encounter in Gulshan-e-Hadeed, another gang war criminal was shot dead. Police said the criminal identified as Owais aka Teku was involved in various robberies. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, three persons were killed in separate incidents of violence in city. A man was killed by unidentified persons near Ali Bhai Auditorium located Garden area. The identification of the deceased was later ascertained as Bahadur, 45. The body was shifted to a private hospital.
A tortured body of man, packed in a gunny bag, was found dumped in bushes near Natha Khan, at Shahrah-e-Faisal. The body was shifted to JPMC for autopsy. Noor Muhammand, 35, son of Barkat Ali was gunned down by unidentified men in Old Subzi Mandi , Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The body was shifted to JPMC for post-mortem examinations.
