Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) has requested the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date of e-filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2014. In a letter sent to Islamabad, the PTBA said that still various queries pertaining to problems being faced by taxpayers in submitting tax returns and wealth statements 2014 are pouring in from across the country.
It said that newly introduced IRIS System that actually began working better only for two weeks after Ashura holidays, was again creating problems for taxpayers. Therefore, taxpayers and consultants got only 15 days to submit returns, instead of three months period as per law.
It said that PTBA always assisted FBR and PRAL to resolve the issues of e-filing of tax return and wealth statement forms 2014 mutually in order to facilitate them and also taxpayers. However, many issues are still pending and required to be resolved legally. In view of these problems, PTBA has urged the FBR to extend the date of e-filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2014 to provide relief to the taxpayers.
