Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh Salman Rafiq has formed a committee here on Friday to review the medical needs of paediatric nurseries. Members of a committee are Dean Children Hospital Professor Masood Sadiq, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Professor Mahmood Shaukat, Medical Director Children Hospital Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Professor Hamayun Iqbal of Services Hospital and Additional Secretary Health (Technical) Dr Salman Shahid.
Kh Salman Rafiq was presiding over a high level meeting of medical experts to review the situation regarding deaths of new-born babies in DHQ Hospital Sargodha here on Friday. Secretary Health Jawad Rafiq Malik, Dean Children Hospital Professor Masood Sadiq, Medical Director Professor Ahsan Waheed Rathore, Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College Professor Mahmood Shaukat, Professor Hamayun Iqbal of Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), Director General Health Dr Wahid Pervaiz, Director Health Services Dr Jamil Chaudhry and Bio-Medical Engineer Mazhar were attended the meeting.
Paediatric experts expressed their views regarding the causes and mortality rate among new-born babies especially the deaths of new-borns in Sargodha. A committee was also constituted in the meeting to strengthen paediatric wards and nurseries of all district headquarters hospitals.
The meeting decided that Children Hospital Lahore will start a short training course for paediatricians and nurses of all districts from December 1, 2014 regarding treatment and special care of children. It was also decided that senior paediatricians of Children Hospital Lahore and Allied Hospital Faisalabad will be sent to DHQs Hospital Sargodha for monitoring the treatment of new-born babies and the overall situation.
