A 3-day Ijtema of the Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan began with the Juma prayer at the historic Badshahi Mosque led by the central leader of the Akhwanul Muslimoon [the Muslim Brotherhood (MB)] and eminent Syrian scholar Al-Sheikh Sadrud Din Albayuni. Addressing a huge gathering inside and outside the spacious Badshahi Mosque, including large number of women, Al-Sheikh Sadrud din Albayuni said "Muslims are not terrorists. Instead they are the saviours of the humanity."
He said leaders of the non-Muslims should understand this vital point and stop their conspiracies against the Muslim world. He stressed upon the leaders of the Muslim world to make the non-Muslims realise that fact. The Akhwanul Muslimoon leader said Islam is not a threat to the world peace. On the other hand, the colonial powers that were obstructing the path of Islam were the real threat to humanity and peace.
He said the world was in need of the enforcement of the Shariat-e-Muhammadi for promotion of love, affection and equality. Al-Sheikh Sadrud Din Albayuni said Pakistan was a state that came into being in the name of 'La-Ilaha Illallah' and lakhs of the Muslims of the sub-continent had sacrificed their lives for this great cause.
Jamaat-i-Islami Pakistan Chief Siraj-ul-Haq addressing the opening of this gathering said that politics had been defamed by those who had practiced that profession since long. He said JI was not in favour of such type of politics. He regretted that imperialistic powers left the country some 65 years back but its system still existed in the country.
He regretted that country was still under heavy debt despite having unlimited resources, adding people were suffering poverty and hunger despite being Pakistan's an agrarian country. He said they were not supporters of conspiracies but supported constitution which had kept all united. However, he said that a system of hypocrisy existed in the country and no mechanism existed to nab the corrupt and thieves. He said that a few people were occupying all the resources and keeping the masses under pressure.
Siraj-ul-Haq referred to China and Malaysia and said they became Asian tigers under sincere leadership while in Pakistan industry and agriculture had been ruined. He urged the masses to get united to face the ruling elite. He said if JI was voted to power it would create job opportunities and also give unemployment allowance to the unemployed, adding that JI would introduce uniform system of education while minorities would be given protection. The Ijtema was being attended by delegates from 25 countries including Sudan, Egypt, Syria, Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, India, Britain, the US, Jordan and Palestine. Prominent leaders of the Islamic movements from different countries were also attending the moot.
