Human-Centred Digital Design (HCD) Workshop concluded at Information Technology University (ITU) here on Friday. The resource person of the workshop was Dr Mike L Best from Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), who is also a faculty associate of the BerkmanCenter for Internet and Society at Harvard University. The workshop was organised with the purpose to introduce students, engineers and designers to creating technology-based solutions to tackle development challenges.
The interactive sessions consisted of lively group discussions, case-study readings and research presentations covering contemporary issues in the field of Information and Communications Technology for Development (ICTD). Dr Best had the participants conduct fieldwork and get in touch with the potential stakeholders of their technology solutions to make sure that designing of the product caters to their needs.
While sharing his views in closing session, Dr Best said, "I am impressed with the strategic goals of ITU which have great focus on HCD and ICT4D." Pakistan is blessed with best human resource; the need is to train them to compete in international market, he added. He applauded the efforts of training department for organising the well managed event. ZaheerSarwar, Registrar, SamiaRazzaq, director, Mustafa Naseem, joint director and Sami, head of ITU trainings were also present on the occasion.
