Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board (PLDDB) has planned to apply imported artificial semen to more than 0.1 million cows in 16 districts of Punjab including, Kasur, Narowal, Mazafarghar, DG Khan, Layah, Bhakar, Mianwali, Mandi Bahaudin, Pakpatan, Hafizabad, Jehlam and Khushab.
Holstein Friesian will be artificially inseminated to cows, which is an American breed renowned for better milk production in the world, disclosed PLDDB officials at a meeting of the field co-ordinators held here on Friday. The meeting was chaired by General Manager Project, Muhammad Farooq. While talking on the closing session, CEO PLDDB, Nabil Arif said that Board is providing semen to farmers on low cost than market. He also suggested to farmers to purchase quality semen by authorised persons for their animals. This is the only way to increase milk and meat production in the province, he added. Speaking on this occasion, PLDDB General Manager Muhammad Farooq said that field workers should do their best efforts to facilitate the farmers. Meeting was also attended by GM Silage project, Zahoor Ahmad, other officers and all field co-ordinators working with PLDDB.
