Former Chief of Jamaat-i-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawar Hasan, has said that Jihad and Qital were permissible for the Muslims only in the name of Allah, and fighting for any personal cause, prejudice, property and wealth was nothing but mischief. He said the slaves of the western powers and those thriving on the funds doled out by the west would have deleted the verses on Jihad from the Holy Quran if only they could do that.
He was talking to the media persons at Mansoora on Monday. Munawar said, "We talk of Jihad, Qital and Infaq (spending) in the name of Allah so that the divine injunctions in this regard could be complied with". He said, had the culture of Jihad and Qital not been so widespread in Afghanistan, Britain, Soviet Union and now the US and Nato would not been defeated there. He said that Allah Almighty had ordained the believers to always keep their horses ready against the enemy, and the idea was that the Muslims should never be unaware of the designs of their enemy. "Whenever the word Fi-Sabeelillah is added to the words Jihad and Qital, it simply implies doing these actions in the name of and for Allah", he added. Munawar Hasan said all those who were agitating on his statement on the issue, were in fact making futile efforts to mislead the masses and spread hatred by giving their own meanings to his words. They wanted to hide their misdeeds in the form of extortion and bodies stuffed in gunny bags, he added.
The former JIP chief said that even the whole world could not prove anything done in compliance with Allah's commands as wrong. If anyone derives a wrong meaning from any statement meant to convey Allah's commands, he should pity his own ignorance, he remarked.
