The Islamabad High Court on Tuesday directed district magistrate of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) to address grievances of Trader Associations of Federal Capital till Wednesday (Today). A single-member bench headed by Justice Athar Minallah heard a civil miscellaneous (CM) application filed by traders challenging November 30 protest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and imposition of section 144 on Islamabad that is intact from the start of Moharram terming it a violation of fundamental rights.
During the course of proceedings, the court ordered that the petitioner could come to the IHC, if the district magistrate fails to resolve their problems. Eight trader associations of Islamabad from G-6, G-9, G-10 through their counsel Sardar Arshad Mehmood Advocate contended before the IHC that the business community felt threatened and endangered due to the "furious rhetoric and designs" of PTI chairman Imran Khan for reactivating his Dharna (sit-in) and Azadi-March on November 30, 2014, at D-Chowk near Constitution Avenue, Islamabad.
The traders maintained that it would bring to a halt the routine life of Islamabad city and in case the city administration decided to allow the participants to protest, they may be allocated a separate place like industrial exhibition ground near Faizabad or F-9 Park to hold public gathering. The petitioners made federation of Pakistan through the secretary ministry of interior, chief commissioner ICT, Inspector General Police ICT, district magistrate ICT and PTI Chairman Imran Khan respondents.
