Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan chaired a high level meeting regarding law and order and security situation in the country particularly in Punjab, here Tuesday. Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, Member National Assembly Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Provincial Ministers Colonel Shuja Khanzada (Retd), Bilal Yasin, MPA Rana Sanaullah Khan, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police and Home Secretary attended the meeting.
Secretary Home gave a detailed briefing on the subject. It was felt that although there is great co-ordination and understanding between federal and Punjab security and intelligence agencies yet there is a lot of room for improvement particularly in the light of current prevailing security situation in the country. Various options were discussed and identified in this regard.
Discussion also took place in the perspective of 30th November's public meeting of PTI. Punjab government assured the federal government that whatever policy guideline given by the federal government, it will be fully implemented by government of Punjab. It was also mutually decided to handle any violation of law with the strong response. Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that the protection of life and property of the citizens is the responsibility of government and police should perform its duties efficiently in this regard. He said that all out resources are being provided for maintenance of law and order and no one will be allowed to take the law in his own hands. He said that all citizens are equal before the law.
The Chief Minister directed that implementation of law should be ensured at any cost and a watchful eye be kept on miscreants. He said that special attention should be paid to the security of important places and modern technology should be utilised for investigation and eradication of crimes.
