Kisan Board Pakistan (KBP) has urged the government to fix minimum purchase prices for sugarcane at Rs 230 per maund and stop sugar millers from exploiting growers or the Board will launch a protest move. KBP Secretary General Malik Muhammad Ramzan Rohari made these demands while talking to delegations of sugarcane growers from Okara, Kasur and Sahiwal here on Tuesday also announced to besiege sugar mills which were exploiting the growers.
He said that the Board had already raise the issue of increasing minimum purchase prices of sugarcane but alleged that rulers ignored this demand to facilitate their near and dear ones. He said that attitude of the government and exploitation of the sugar millers had forced the growers to come on roads.
