The production and sale of trucks jumped by 100 per cent in the first quarter of (July-September) of 2014-15 when compared to Q1 of 2013-14, PAMA sources told Business Recorder here on Tuesday. They said that the four truck manufacturers/assemblers - Hino, Nissan, Master and Isuzu - produced 1,266 trucks during July-October 2014 as compared to 641 units of 2013.
They said that the demand of the trucks had been strong and the manufacturers sold as many as 1,078 trucks against 573 trucks of the corresponding period of last year. According to sources, Hino sold 365 trucks, Nissan 203, Master 236 and Isuzu 274 trucks in the first three months of the current year. They said that the sale of buses decreased by 20 per cent during this period which was 163 units against last year's sale of 191 units in the same period. The four manufacturers produced only 171 buses whereas they had produced 244 units during July-September 2013.
